A Review of Family Resilience Support Programs for Families with Children with Disabilities

Abstract
The purpose of the study was to explore practical strategies and critical contents of family support programs which were more appropriate to improve family resilience of family with children with disabilities. The study reviewed the ¡®Paediatric and Adolescent Support Service(PASS)¡¯ in Australia, the ¡®Sure Start¡¯ in England, and the ¡®Family Support 360¡¯ in U.S.A. in the perspective of family resilience. Also, the study analyzed the main factors for developing effective family support program. The results revealed practical strategies as follows: program goal to improve the family functioning and empowerment; program target person including children with disabilities, illness, and special needs, and their families; service accessibility for family members; comprehensive service program such as counselling, education, daily care, and respite care service. The results suggested future directions of domestic program development for family resilience.
